“In mining terms, the canary has died,” said Flavio Volpe in a CTV News interview about the trade war’s effect on the North American auto industry. “The industry works on six and seven per cent profit margins,” he said. “On math, a 25 per cent tariff, or even one that’s discounted because of American content, still does not work.”
