Trump tariffs will halt North American auto assembly in a week, Linamar board chair warns

Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association President Flavio Volpe agrees that stopping assembly is a real possibility. “I think assemblers who make 1,000 vehicles a day at a typical plant have a very short runway for booking losses,” he said. “If you’re going to lose $4,000 on a $40,000 car, how many $4-million-loss days are you going to schedule?”
