‘Severe’ impact expected for manufacturing jobs in Waterloo Region because of U.S. tariffs

Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association, has also warned that automotive production “will simply shut down within a week,” just as it did during the pandemic. “It’s a simple principle. We’re in a just-in-time (delivery) business that carries no more than 24 hours inventory. And you can’t build a car or run a (production) line without all of the parts,” he said.
