Mark Carney’s visit ends with no deal despite Donald Trump predicting Canada will be ‘very happy’ with Washington trade talks

Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, said he wasn’t surprised no deal was announced Tuesday. While he, too, noted “a level of comfort we haven’t seen before” between the leaders, he also felt Trump’s description of Carney as a strong negotiator could be a sign of progress to come, since striking an agreement with a “really tough adversary” could be spun as more of an accomplishment.
