The next round of U.S.-Canada trade talks will likely be tougher than negotiations that led to the USMCA, but that is preferrable to liberalizing trade with China, Volpe said. “Do you think you’re going to get better terms of investment in partnership with China, who has everything that Canada has to offer?” he asked. “I’d rather grind it out with Donald Trump.”
