Why participate?

The automotive industry is the most important driver of the Italian economy. With a turnover in excess of 75 billion Euro, the industry accounts for a labour force of some 200,000, approximately 885 parts manufacturers and an additional 5,000 SME suppliers and service providers

The Fiat Group (www.fiatgroup.com) is the largest industrial enterprise in Italy and one of the founders of the European motor industry. Beyond automotives, Fiat designs and manufactures trucks, wheel loaders, excavators, tractors and combine harvesters.

Fiat has emerged from the recent crisis as a leader of the future global automotive industry and the world's 3rd largest vehicle manufacturer. In 2009, consolidated revenues exceeded 50 billion Euro.

Fiat Group Purchasing manages a global supply chain of more than 10,000 companies with a purchasing volume of more than 35 billion Euro. Fiat is undertaking a full review of its supply chain vis-à-vis its future North America production line and has approached its Italian suppliers to determine which ones are willing and able to supply Fiat in North America. As Fiat fully integrates its global supply base with that of Chrysler's, Italian suppliers will be keen to partner with firms in North America to establish a manufacturing footprint close to Fiat-Chrysler's plants.

The Ontario Automotive mission to Italy will provide a unique opportunity to:

  1. Introduce your company's technology to FIAT purchasing executive and Italian suppliers to FIAT
  2. Meet one-on-one with potential customers and business partners.
  3. Obtain a briefing on FIAT's global purchasing strategy
  4. Participate in site visits
