Human Resources Development
Join the APMA HR Forum
Over the past few years, APMA developed a Human Resources Network which enabled APMA members to gain valuable knowledge and information from each other on human resource issues. APMA would receive a request for information from a member of the HR Network, which is in turn distributed to the HR Network via email. Responses were gathered by APMA and relayed back to the inquiring member and any other HR Network member that expresses interest in the information.
This network is now being brought into the new APMA Member Forum on our website. HR professionals now have the ability to communicate directly with each other on current issues their companies are facing.
APMA will post topics on behalf of companies if you do not wish your name to be public. Please contact Colin Poag at cpoag@apma.ca.
The HR Network has been very helpful to many members and we are hopeful this success will carry on to the HR Forum.
"NEW" APMA Human Resources Council
APMA, along with a steering committee consisting of manufacturing member company HR professionals, has formulated a new mission and direction for the Human Resources Council. The mission of the APMA HR Council will be to provide members with an environment to identify and address strategic issues, share best practices, recommend solutions and promote the wellbeing of the supplier industry by supporting the effective implementation of human resources practices.
The council meets quarterly at various member locations. Members of the council help build the agenda for the next meeting with current issues or topics they are facing within the industry. Speakers are invited to give presentations on specific topics and each meeting concludes with an open roundtable discussion where members discuss issues they face within their own organization. Council members leave each meeting with knowledge that will help their company. These council meetings give immediate value to the attendees. Membership on the council is limited to regular members (manufacturing companies), with HR professionals who are not regular members being invited to give presentations as the council decides.
If you are interested in joining the Council, please contact Colin Poag at cpoag@apma.ca.
